Work Experience :: Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Work experience at the comms department at CWP is very good. In the comms department there is always a positive energy in the office and the team are very friendly.

The work that you do during the placement is very interesting and during my time here I have definitely learnt a lot. The most enjoyable tasks I have done include developing social media posts, learning new graphic design software, I have also enjoyed looking at the websites because I was able to learn a lot from them. I also did website designing and learnt about the content managment system (which is what communications teams use to edit and develop websites). Whilst editing the website I also had to consider the user journey which is the order that the user looks at things.

I also had a look at communicatons planning which how the communications team set out their strategy for different projects. The website I enjoyed looking at the most was probably My mind because it was the most child friendly and I thought it was probably the most accessible and usable out of all of them. I did like the main website and the talking therapy website but I think My mind was the best in my opinion just because it was easy to understand what was being said.

I chose to do my work experience here because it can help me with a range of different GCSE topics that I’m doing for example writing articles can help with English and creating social media adverts on Canva Is very useful for Media Studies and English a bit.

On my third day I was doing work about Hospital at home and I did a piece of writing about it to use in the CWP LIFE magazine. The piece can be seen below as an example of the sort of work that you may do here during your work experience placement.

Hospital At Home

The hospital at home service is a team of GP’s, nurses, therapists, support workers, administrators, Advanced clinical practitioners and pharmacists who provide people who live in West Cheshire a virtual ward service.

Hospital at home provides acute hospital level care from health care professionals in a person’s usual place of residence. This is so that there are less people going to a hospital with minor injuries but they can still be treated by a professional. Due to this there will be less people in hospitals with minor injuries so doctors will be able to focus more on people who have worse injuries and need to be treated faster.

Hospital at home can be used whenever is necessary. Hospital at home can also be useful for if an old person were to get injured, they may struggle to get to a hospital so it is much more convenient for them to be treated at home.

From November 22 – January 23 988 patients were supported by the service. Due to this there were many more hospital beds available. They were also consistently meeting the NHS England 2hour response time target of 70%. Because of this and their care home engagement work they have resulted in 38% less attendances to A&E from care home residents when comparing November 2021 to November 2022.
